NHS Sheffield New Joiner Orientation

The NHS Sheffield New Joiner Orientation is our way of welcoming you into our organisation; it will give you a taster of who’s who, what we do and loads of opportunities to meet your colleagues and find out more about our business and where you fit in.

The orientation starts early … from the moment the new joiner receives their unconditional offer of employment.

Stage 1 – Pre appointment contact

  • Appropriate contact will be made during your notice period
  • You may be invited to meet the team and become familiar with your work-base
  • Expect to be invited to relevant meetings and events
  • You will receive important documents and updates from your line manager
  • Our Chief Executive Officer, Jan Sobieraj has a recommended read ‘Good to Great’ by Jim Collins – to loan a copy contact your line manager

Stage 2 – Local induction

The local induction is included in the new joiner orientation plans.

  • Department tour
  • Introduction to key contacts
  • Covering of the essentials
  • Receive your welcome bag

Stage 3 – 722 overview

  • A detailed tour of the building
  • How to … where to … information provided on route
  • Introduction to each directorate

Stage 4 – Footprints

Footprints are short periods of contact time to introduce, familiarise, ask questions and begin forming a network of contacts:

Stage 7 – Course attendance

and finally, you’ll be invited to tell us what you thought of your orientation.
