Education, Training and Development

NHS Sheffield is committed to the education, training and development needs of its employees to meet the changing, challenging and exciting environment of primary care.

The education, training and development team, as part of the HR Department work closely with colleagues across the trust, and maintain effective links with the Sheffield Health Community and partnership organisations to deliver a needs led service.

Our delivery is focused around the following areas:

  • Clinical
  • Essential
  • Leadership and Management
  • Vocational

Each area has a designated lead responsible for and committed to the ongoing development of their specialist area.

We are able to offer our colleagues nationally accredited qualifications as we are recognised accredited centres by both the Open College Network (OCN) and the Institute of Leadership and Management (ILM). Our highly successful Access to Nursing and Health Studies programme is just one of our accredited programmes that is accessible to the Sheffield Health Community.

Internally, we provide an ever-increasing portfolio of courses and programmes accessible via our education, training and development intranet page (nhs net only). We provide a successful pathway approach to career progression and the development of health professionals.

Externally, we research and work closely with our commissioned providers to deliver quality and effective training.
