Stroke - Raising awareness amongst Sheffield's communities

Time Lost is Brain Lost

stroke

Working with communities across Sheffield, the Stroke: Time Lost is Brain Lost campaign has been developed to raise awareness of stroke, the symptoms of stroke and what action to take if you see any of these symptoms.

The key messages and resources have been developed and designed directly by people from Pakistani, Somali and Yemeni communities within the city. They have been designed to help promote conversations within homes, families and communities about the impact of stroke and the need to act immediately if any of the symptoms of stroke are recognised.

Background

This work has grown from an identified need within Sheffield’s BME communities to raise awareness of stroke, the symptoms of stroke and what action to take if these symptoms are recognised. It follows extensive insight with a range of people across Sheffield and a detailed co-production process with people from Pakistani, Somali and Yemeni communities and healthcare professionals.

The work has been delivered in partnership with NHS Sheffield, North Trent Network for Cardiac Care/Stroke Strategy Project, South Yorkshire CLAHRC (Collaboration for Leadership in Applied Health Research and Care) and The Campaign Company.
