Speech and Language Therapy Services for Children
Making a referral

Anybody can refer a child to the Speech and Language Therapy Service, as long as parents have given their signed consent. Parents can phone to refer their own children. Alternatively, families can attend one of our drop-in sessions.

Once a referral has been received for a preschool child, parents will be sent a letter asking them to contact the service to make an appointment at a time and clinic which is convenient for them.

School aged children will be offered an assessment appointment in school, unless the referral is for a child/young person who stammers.  These individuals will be offered a clinic appointment with their families.

Assessment appointments will be offered within 18 weeks.
