GP Assessment Unit (GPAU)

If your patient is not in need of acute medical care but is at risk of admission.

The GPAU provides rapid access testing, diagnostics and specialist opinion. The unit aims to prevent admission to hospital of patients who are not medically in need of acute care but for whom admission was previously the only option in order to obtain these services.
To access the unit ring the SPA on 305 1460 and request the GPAU - the duty GP will agree with you if the patient is appropriate for the unit.
Remember to direct patients and transport services to Firth One, NGH.
