Free Health Checks in Darnall

On Wednesday 25 November, the first of four free health check session will be launched at the PMC (Pakistan Muslim Centre), Woodbourn Road, Darnall.

The sessions are open to men and women over 40 and include blood pressure, diabetes, cholesterol, weight checks and lifestyle advice and will run from 10.00 - 4.00.

The sessions are free and easily accessible, local people can turn up on the day to make their own 30 minute appointment, or to book a slot in advance call 0114 2436091.

Lyn Brandon, NHS Sheffield’s Enhanced Public Health Programme Lead for Darnall said, “As part of out commitment to improve the health of people in Darnall we want local people to take advantage of these free health checks, but also to take the opportunity to find out about many of the other activities available in Darnall that can help people to stay healthy and happy.”

Tariq Kataria, Chief Executive, PMC said, “The PMC is delighted to be working in Partnership on this fantastic health initiative. I would encourage all those who qualify to attend one of the four sessions and I would like to emphasise its importance in that Health Screening sessions are a great place to start, making it possible for common diseases to be detected, prevented, and indeed treated. Surely, these tests can be critical to improving the health of society if its message is passed on.”

The sessions are supported by NHS Sheffield, Healthier Darnall (Enhanced Public Health Programme), and the PMC. The Health Checks will be provided by staff from Sheffield City GP Health Centre.
