If you require resources which are not held in the Library, in particular, books and journal articles, we can get these from a number of other sources for Sheffield PCT staff. The following information explains the process.
First of all, you will need to complete a request form. There are two request forms, one for book loans (208kb Word, opens in a new window) and one for photocopies of articles (206kb Word, opens in a new window) . Please complete the appropriate form and return it to the Library. Please note, that this form cannot be sent via e-mail as we must have your signature on the form in order to comply with the Copyright Act. We will then endeavour to get the article or book you require from our numerous suppliers of articles.
We will then apply to the library who hold the item you request, sometimes electronically, sometimes in paper format. They normally despatch the item within a week of the request being made although often it is much quicker. When we receive the item, we will either send it to you via the Internal Post (Round Robin) or notify you that it has arrived so you can collect it.
You are able to keep any photocopies you receive. However, if you want to borrow books, these will have a date by which they must be returned to the Library. Please ensure that the books are returned by the date specified at the latest.
NB Please note that although this service is provided free of charge for PCT staff, the Library incurs charges when obtaining photocopies/books in this way. Therefore, if you are making a large number of requests, we would be grateful if you could pick the items you request with care in order to ensure the effective use of our budget. Thank you!
Non-Sheffield PCT staff will be charged for this service, please contact the Library for further details.
