If you wish to borrow resources from the Library you will first need to join the Library. The following provides detailed information about the loans service we provide:
Resources can be borrowed from the Library for a period of three weeks. They can be renewed providing they are not required by other users. In certain circumstances, resources can be placed on long term loan to you, for example if you are working on a long project or regularly need to refer to them. However, we may recall long term loans in the event they are required by other users. The maximum number of resources you can have on loan at any one time is 20.
If the item you wish to borrow is already on loan, we will reserve it for you so that it will automatically be sent to you on its return. Reservations can be made by telephone, e-mail or in person.
If you wish to use resources on a particular date for a meeting or seminar, resources can be booked in advance. In fact, with some items such as the display boards, it is imperative that you do book them well in advance or you may find they are not available when you require them. Bookings can be made by telephone, e-mail or in person.
Books, videos, and teaching packs can be sent via the internal mail (Round Robin service). If you would like to take advantage of this service, please let Library staff know when you ask for resources. Items such as overhead projectors, display boards, flip chart stands etc cannot be send via the Round Robin and must be collected from the Library.
If we do not have the resources you require it may be possible for us to borrow them from the British Library. We can obtain photocopies of journal articles from many NHS libraries. If we don't hold the resource you require, we will always try and get it from somewhere else whenever possible. For further information see Interlibrary Loans and Document Delivery.
