Sheffield Director of Public Health Reports & Joint Strategic Needs Assessment

The Director of Public Health produces an annual report which has a different focus each year.

Past, Present, Future - Sheffield Director of Public Health Report

September 2011.

In this year's report for Sheffield we look back to the early 1970s (when Public Health was last in a local authority) and note the big improvements in health since then; we then summarise our current work and the outcomes being achieved. Finally we identify the opportunities and challenges for improving health and tackling health inequalities in the future. We also publish up to date health and well being profiles for Sheffield's 28 electoral wards and 7 community assemblies.

Fairer Sheffield, Healthy Lives - Health Inequalities Action Plan 2010-2013

The action plan has been produced jointly with Sheffield City Council and is based on the 6 ‘Areas for Action’ identified in Sir Michael Marmot’s report on health inequalities in England. It identifies actions within each of these and builds on the extensive work already undertaken in Sheffield to address poor health in less advantaged communities within the City. Addressing health inequalities remains one of the key strategic objectives for NHS Sheffield and Sheffield City Council.
