Review of Community Physiotherapy Service

Survey results

The survey was part of the preparation work to tender for a community physiotherapy service, dealing with a level of service above what is usually provided by GPs. There was an emphasis on the changing areas for this service as patients often need to change into loose fitting clothes to do the exercises.

There were 85 respondents. Themes that came out consistently were:

  • Most people used their own transport to get to their appointment.
  • Parking was more important than public transport.
  • The wait to get an appointment was very important - understandable if the patients are in pain.
  • The standard of treatment are was very important.
  • Having treatment explained and being able to ask questions was very important to most people.

The findings of the survey were incorporated into the tendering documents for the service.
