Sheffield First for Health and Well-being Partnership

The Health and Well being partnership provides the lead in overseeing health issues of city-wide importance, including improving health and reducing health inequalities across the city.

This includes:

  • Public Health: Reducing health inequalities through enhancing public health services and partnership working
  • Older People: Improving independence, health and well-being through improving health and social care services and sponsoring a strategy for an ageing population
  • World Health Organisation Healthy City Status: Making sure that health and well-being is considered when major decisions are taken in the city, e.g. in urban planning.

It is a city-wide partnership with members from all of the main health organisations in the city including the Primary Care Trust and other NHS Trusts, Sheffield City Council, the main learning institutions and representatives from the community, voluntary and faith sector.

The purpose of the Partnership is to work together to maximise partnership working between the public, independent, voluntary, community and faith sectors to ensure all of our communities have good health and well-being.

The vision for 2010 is that Sheffield will be leading the way in good health and well-being for all communities and neighbourhoods and will be amongst the healthiest cities in the country.
