Clinical Executive
The Clinical Executive (formerly the Professional Executive Committee - PEC) are a small group of very experienced Sheffield doctors, a nurse, and a pharmacist, who are helping to lead improvements in health services in the city.
The Clinical Executive members are part of the Clinical Commissioning Executive Team (CCET) which meets weekly, but these two groups are not the same – the CCET consists of the NHS Sheffield ET, PBC consortia leads and the Clinical Executive members.
The group see and treat patients every week and play a major part in ensuring their colleagues and patients views lead NHS Sheffield to developing quality, safe and innovative health services.
A written report on the activities of the Clinical Executive is taken to the Board each month.
What we do
The Clinical Executive is the 'clinical engine room' at the top level of NHS Sheffield's management structure. The joint Clinical Executive chair role ensures four days per week clinical input at this highest level with both chairs attending Executive Team (ET) and Board meetings. Our Clinical Executive members will in addition be contributing six sessions per month to the organisation.
Through our current and developing links with our independent contractors and partner organisations we will strive to provide a balanced clinical perspective whilst being integral to delivering the PCT's 'Achieving Balanced Health' five year strategy. Only by working together can we achieve this ambitious health improvement for the population of Sheffield.

The Clinical Executive meets informally most Thursday lunchtimes.
